Period 2 – Amendment Teams

 

Amendment 5 - Guarantees the rights of the accused (self incrimination, double jeopardy, attorney present during questioning, etc.)

Amendment 12 – Changed the way the Vice-President was elected.  Originally the candidate with the most votes became President, runner up became Vice President.

Amendment 14 - Granted full citizenship, Due Process and Equal Protection under the law for all citizens.

Amendment 17 – Changed the way United States Senators were elected to popular vote.  Senators used to be appointed by the state legislature.  This gave Americans a greater voice in their government.

Amendment 21 – Repealed the 18th amendment, making the sale production and consumption of alcohol legal in the United States.
